COSPAR intends to offer another training opportunity for doctoral students and young postdoc's from development countries in the frame of its CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP PROGRAMME entitled "LUNAR AND PLANETARY SURFACE SCIENCE". This workshop will be held at the Harbin Institute of Technology in Harbin, China. It is mainly addressed (but not restricted) to young scientists working in the upcoming lunar and planetary research projects in the Asia 每 Pacific region. The program as it emerged by now will cover the following general lecture topics:

Lunar exploration and science results

•  Chang'e-1 (Chinese)
•  Chandrayaan-1 (Indian)
•  Lander missions and network science

Robotics for the planetary surface exploration

•  Surface operations
•  Surface sampling methods (drilling, hammering, etc.)
•  Applications in Chinese Lunar lander/rover mission.
